"WELCOME"Fara Crafts is a small family business established in 1988. We supply wonderfully unique Handmade Furniture, Cabinets, Tables, Chests & Stools. Elephant & Animal Woodcarvings, all sorts of Handicrafts, Drums & Statues. Handpainted Wall Fans, as well as paintings on Velvet and Rayon/Silk. Fara has been dealing with the same families of artists and carvers for many years, we have a special relationship with all our suppliers, and have seen grandfathers pass down their special skills to younger members of the family. We believe in 'fair trade', and knowing the craftsmen and paying them directly achieves this. Over the years, we have put profits back into the community, building a new workplace for artists.Most of our woodcarvings are made from a fast growing Asian tree the Acacia. Being a softwood tree it can be difficult to carve, and after carving each piece can take between 3-6 months to completely dry, it is then coloured, waxed, and polished ready for your home.
The Acacia is reguarly reforested to help the enviroment, and keep the craftsmen in work! The Teakwood used has been reclaimed, mostly from redevelopment, taking down old teak houses to build brick homes. The Teakwood Statues especially are made from very old wood. All of our carvings, being handmade, are unique and as such may vary slightly, in shade and size, due to the characteristic of the wood.WE ACCEPT CHEQUES, AND ARE ALSO AUTHORISED TO TAKE CREDIT CARDS OVER THE PHONE.
